Rescuers struggle to reach China quake victims

A frantic search for survivors in southwest China after a powerful earthquake left over 200 people dead or missing. A mother and baby were pulled alive from the rubble on Saturday (April 20) at the epicentre in Lushan county. They're among more than 11,000 people injured in the 6.6 magnitude quake. Emergency supplies have been arriving, but narrow roads and landslides are hampering relief efforts.

At a medical camp in the area, survivors are still in shock. Situated outside the main hospital, the open-air clinic is treating injuries and looking after patients who were evacuated from the building. They're surrounded by the legacy of China's worst earthquake for three years. Premier Li Keqiang visited the worst hit areas on Saturday and urged officials to use every available method to find survivors. He also vowed to rebuild collapsed homes. The disaster happened close to where a major earthquake struck in 2008, killing 70,000 people.
